Nobody likes dealing with stains on their mattress, especially when they’re of the lipstick variety. While these types of stains can be tough to tackle, there are some simple steps that you can take to remove them.

Tools You Will Need

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Water
  • Old toothbrush
  • Clean rag or sponge

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Create a solution of equal parts baking soda and water. Stir it together with a spoon until it forms a paste.
  2. Apply the paste to the stained area of the mattress and let it sit for 1-2 hours.
  3. Using an old toothbrush, scrub the stain gently and thoroughly.
  4. Rinse area with clean water. If the stain persists, use a dab of vinegar or rubbing alcohol.
  5. Blot the area dry with a clean rag or sponge.
  6. Allow mattress to air dry completely.

Additional Tips

  • If the stain is too stubborn to remove using the above method, you may want to try using a commercial stain remover.
  • For added protection against future stains, consider getting a mattress protector.
  • If stain has already set in, try removing it as quickly as possible to avoid permanent discoloration.
