Cleaning Procedure

  1. Put some cold water in a bowl.
  2. Mix in a few drops of laundry detergent or liquid dish soap.
  3. Blot at the stain with a soft white cloth soaked in the solution.
  4. Wipe the area with a damp cloth to remove any remaining detergent, then let the kimono air dry away from direct heat.

Removing Stains with Baking Soda Paste

  1. Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with just enough warm water to make a paste.
  2. Gently spread the paste over the stain and let sit for up to 30 minutes.
  3. Rinse off paste with a damp cloth, then blot the area dry with a clean towel.

Using Rubbing Alcohol to Get Rid of Lipstick Stains

  1. Dab a cotton ball into rubbing alcohol.
  2. Test the rubbing alcohol on a small area of the kimono first. If the fabric looks unaffected, continue with cleaning procedure.
  3. Gently rub the stain with the cotton ball until it disappears.
  4. Rinse area with a damp cloth, then let the kimono air dry.
