What You Need

  • Detergent: Any kind of detergent will do, though you'll get better results with shampoo or a stain remover specifically designed for clothing fabrics.
  • Fabric brush: A light fabric brush is the best tool for gently scrubbing lipstick from jumpers.
  • White cloth: A white cloth is essential to use when applying detergent to the stain so that you don't spread the stain further.

Instructions

  1. Start by gently blotting stained area with a white cloth to remove excess lipstick.
  2. Mix a small amount of detergent with warm water and apply directly to the stained area. Use white cloth to spread the detergent over the coated area.
  3. Use the fabric brush to gently scrub the area in circular motions, making sure not to scrub too hard.
  4. Rinse the stained area with cold water and use the white cloth to blot out any remaining detergent and lipstick.
  5. Check the stained area for any remaining lipstick before leaving the jumper to dry. If there are still traces of lipstick, repeat the process until it is completely gone.

Final Steps

Once the lipstick is completely gone, leave the jumper to dry naturally. Do not use a clothes dryer, as this may cause the stain to set.

If the stain persists, you may need to take the jumper to a professional dry cleaner.
