When you first discover lipstick stain, don't panic. The first step to take is to cover stain with a plastic bag filled with ice cubes or an ice pack, whichever is available. Doing so helps freeze the lipstick and prevents it from setting in too deep. Leave the bag with the ice cubes or ice pack as long as you can, but at least 15 minutes.
Once the stain has been frozen with the ice cubes or ice pack, it’s time to apply dry cleaning solvent to the spot. Place a white cloth over the stain and dampen with dry cleaning solvent. When doing so, apply a moderate amount of pressure on the cloth and slowly make circular motions to rub lipstick away from the hat fabric.
If the dry cleaning solvent didn't do the trick - don't worry. For tougher stains, you can try applying hydrogen peroxide. Pour some hydrogen peroxide onto a white cloth and rub gently onto the stain in circular motions. The hydrogen peroxide molecules will help break down the stain and should do the trick if the dry cleaning solvent couldn't.
Once the lipstick stain is gone, rinse the area with warm water using a white cloth. Then you can allow area to air dry or you can use a hair dryer on the low heat setting to speed up the process.
With these 4 easy steps, you should be able to successfully remove a lipstick stain from your hat. However, if the stain is still there, it might be time to invest in a new hat.
