If you're an avid makeup user, chances are you've encountered a few stains on your favorite hair clips. While it can be tempting to simply throw the clips away and buy new ones, you may be surprised that you can clean them and restore their original look.
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to carefully scrub the surface of your hairclip. This will help remove some of the residual makeup before you move on to the cleaning process.
Mix some warm water and gentle dishwashing liquid or baby shampoo. Dip a clean cloth into the soapy solution, wring out the excess water, and wipe down surface of your hair clip.
Rinse the clip with cold water until all traces of soap are gone. Pat dry with a clean, lint-free cloth and leave it to air-dry completely in a well-ventilated area.
If there are any stubborn lipstick stains left behind, soak a cotton ball or swab in rubbing alcohol and dab it over the affected area. Work the swab in a gentle, circular motion until the stain lifts. Remember to rinse the clip with cold water afterwards.
Once clip is clean and dry, spritz a bit of hairspray onto a paper towel and rub it over the surface of clip. The hairspray will act as a sealant and will help keep the clip looking clean for longer.
No. In most cases, a simple soap solution will do the trick. But if you find that the stains are too stubborn, rubbing alcohol can be used to get rid of them.
Yes. Hairspray can act as a sealant and help protect against future stains. Just make sure to spray a small amount onto a paper towel and wipe it onto the surface of the clip, avoiding contact with skin.
