The key to removing lipstick stains from garter fabric is to act fast — the sooner you treat the stain, the better your chances of getting it out. First, scrape off any remaining lipstick with a butter knife or spoon. This will help to minimize the stain.
Next, the trick is to use cold water to blot the stain. Soak a cloth in cold water, then press it onto stain. Keep reapplying and blotting until the stain has faded. It’s important not to rub the fabric as this could cause the stain to spread.
You can also use a laundry pre-treatment product which can be applied directly to the stain before washing. Follow the directions on the packaging for best results.
Finally, launder the garter according to care instructions. It’s best to wash whites and colors separately, so if you’re unsure, choose to hand wash the garter in cold water. Then hang it up to air dry and inspect to make sure the stain is gone.
