If you spot a lipstick stain on your formal wear soon after it has happened, try to remove it as soon as possible. The longer the stain sets in, the harder it will be to remove.
Using a wet cloth, premoisten the lipstick stain and gently rub it to loosen material. Do not scrub the stain or you may damage the fabric.
Apply a cleaner specifically designed to remove lipstick stains or a mixture of liquid dishwashing detergent and white vinegar. Let solution sit on the stained area for a few minutes to give it time to work.
Once the cleaning solution has been applied, rinse the garment thoroughly and repeat steps 2 and 3, if necessary. If the stain is still present, repeat the process until it is removed.
Once all of lipstick has been removed, wash the clothing item as usual in cold water. Using hot water may cause the lipstick stain to set into the fabric.
