As soon as you notice the stain, start by pretreating it. Begin by running cold water over the area for several minutes, and then dab a few drops of liquid dish soap directly onto the stain. Use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the stain in a circular motion to loosen up any remaining residue. Rinse area again with cold water.
Once the stain has been pretreated, it's time to wash item of clothing. Place item in the washing machine with other similar colored items, and be sure to use cold water and a mild detergent. Do not use hot water or any type of bleach, as this could cause the stain to set even deeper into the fabric.
Once the item of clothing has finished washing, remove it from the washing machine and place it on a clean towel. Pat the area of the stain again with the towel to absorb any remaining moisture. Hang item up to air-dry or use the delicate setting on your dryer.
When the clothing item has finished drying, take a look at the stain to see if it has been removed. If the stain is still present, repeat steps 1-3 until it has been completely removed.
