Instructions
- Scrape off any excess lipstick with a dull knife or spoon.
- Mix a solution of one part detergent and two parts cold water. Apply the mixture to the stain and gently rub it in with your fingers.
- Rinse off the detergent mixture with cold water.
- If the stain is still present, make a paste out of baking soda and cold water. Apply the paste to the area and let it sit for 20 minutes.
- Wash the area with cold water. Use a stain remover if necessary and repeat process until the stain is gone.
- Allow area to air dry. Do not put the item in the dryer until you are sure stain has been removed.
Tips
- Be sure to use cold water when cleaning lipstick stains. Heat will set the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
- Do not use chlorine bleach, as this may discolor the fabric.
- If possible, treat the stain immediately. The longer lipstick stain remains on fabric, the harder it will be to remove.
