Instructions

  1. Scrape off any excess lipstick with a dull knife or spoon.
  2. Mix a solution of one part detergent and two parts cold water. Apply the mixture to the stain and gently rub it in with your fingers.
  3. Rinse off the detergent mixture with cold water.
  4. If the stain is still present, make a paste out of baking soda and cold water. Apply the paste to the area and let it sit for 20 minutes.
  5. Wash the area with cold water. Use a stain remover if necessary and repeat process until the stain is gone.
  6. Allow area to air dry. Do not put the item in the dryer until you are sure stain has been removed.

Tips

  • Be sure to use cold water when cleaning lipstick stains. Heat will set the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
  • Do not use chlorine bleach, as this may discolor the fabric.
  • If possible, treat the stain immediately. The longer lipstick stain remains on fabric, the harder it will be to remove.
