Having a stylish and elegant evening gown is essential for any special occasion. But, accidents do happen, like when someone accidently gets a bit of lipstick on the fabric. That doesn't mean you have to toss the dress out - there are some sure-fire ways to remove lipstick stains with the help of household items.
Step 1 - Blot the Stained Area: Using a clean white cloth or paper towel, blot stained area gently. Don’t rub or scrub the stain as it could spread the stain and make it worse. If you don’t have a cloth or a paper towel, you can try using a clean spoon to gently scrape away the excess lipstick.
Step 2 - Pre-Treat Stain: Pre-treating the stain with a stain remover should be your first line of defense. You can use a commercial stain remover, or you can make a homemade mixture with white vinegar and water. Spray the homemade mixture on the stained area, then leave it for few minutes before washing garment according to the instructions on tag.
Step 3 - Add OxiClean to Your Wash: OxiClean or another oxygen-based bleach is an effective way to remove most lipstick stains. Simply add the powder to your laundry load and run through a regular wash cycle. Spot treat stain before putting the garment into the machine.
Step 4 - Dry Clean the Garment: After removing the stain as much as possible, take the garment to a professional dry cleaner. They can safely remove any stubborn lipstick stains that may remain.
By following these steps, you should be able to remove lipstick stains from your evening gown quickly and easily. Now you can fully enjoy the night without worrying about your dress.
