Crepe is a wonderful fabric to wear, but it's delicate nature makes it more susceptible to staining from lipstick. Fortunately, there are some easy methods you can use to remove these unsightly blotches from your fabric.
The first step in removing lipstick stains from crepe is to pre-treat the fabric with laundry detergent. Choose a laundry detergent that is designed for delicate fabrics and mix a small amount with some warm water in a bowl. Dip a cloth into the solution and then dab gently at the stained area of fabric with the mixture.
Allow the solution to sit on stain for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.
Once detergent has had time to work on the stain, it's time to use rubbing alcohol or vinegar to help lift the stain away. Dampen a cloth with the rubbing alcohol or vinegar and then dab gently at the stained area. It may take a few applications of either one before the stain is completely gone.
After each application, rinse the area with cold water to stop the cleaning process and to make sure the fabric isn't damaged any further.
The final step in removing a lipstick stain from crepe is to hand wash the fabric. Fill a sink with cool water and add a bit of liquid detergent. Soak the fabric in sink for about 15 minutes and then remove it. Gently rub the stained area with a sponge until the stain is gone.
Once you've finished washing the fabric, hang it up to air dry. Don't put crepe fabric in the dryer as this can cause the fabric to shrink.
With these three simple steps, you can easily remove lipstick stains from crepe. Just remember to start with a gentle pre-treatment, move on to using rubbing alcohol or vinegar, and then finish with a hand wash. Your crepe will be looking good as new in no time!
