What You'll Need

  • White cloth or paper towels
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Detergent
  • Spray bottle

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Gently blot area of the stain using a cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of excess lipstick as possible. Do not rub the cloth over the area, as this can cause the stain to spread further.

Step 2: Pre-treat with Rubbing Alcohol

Using a spray bottle, spritz the area of the stain with rubbing alcohol. Let it sit for a minute or two before blotting the area again with a cloth to remove any remaining residue. Reapply the rubbing alcohol if necessary.

Step 3: Pre-treat with Hydrogen Peroxide

Once the lip stain has been removed, pre-treat the area with hydrogen peroxide. This will help to make sure the stain does not reappear when the garment is washed. Apply the hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes before blotting the area with a cloth.

Step 4: Wash the Fabric

After pre-treating the stain, machine wash the fabric in cold water with detergent. Do not use fabric softener, as this can set the stain. Once the wash cycle is complete, check the stain to make sure it has been completely removed. If not, repeat the pre-treating steps again before washing a second time.
