Removing Wet Lipstick Stains

If the lipstick is still wet, use a paper towel or soft cloth to immediately blot the stain, moving from outside edges of the stain towards the middle. Make sure to only blot the stain and not rub it, as rubbing can spread stain further. Try to absorb as much of the lipstick as possible with towels.

Removing Dry Lipstick Stains

If the lipstick has dried, try to gently scrape off any excess lipstick with a spoon or butter knife. Do this carefully so you don't damage or tear the canvas. Once you've removed excess, create a mixture of detergent, water, and baking soda. Dip a soft, white cloth into the mixture and blot the stain, being careful not to rub. Continue blotting in a circular motion until the stain is gone. Rinse the area with clean, cold water before allowing the canvas to air dry.

Additional Tips

  • If the lipstick stain does not come out with the above methods, try applying a small amount of rubbing alcohol to the stain and blotting. This solution should remove the stain without damaging the canvas.
  • Make sure you test the rubbing alcohol on an inconspicuous spot on the canvas before using it on the stain.
  • After cleaning the canvas, consider treating it with a fabric protector to help prevent future stains.
