Materials Needed

  • Laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Chlorine bleach
  • Oxygen-based bleach
  • Soft brush

Step 1 - Pre-treat the Stain

Start by applying a few drops of laundry detergent directly onto the lipstick stain. Rub the detergent into fabric for 30 seconds. Gently rub the detergent in and be careful not to rub too hard so as to avoid damage to the fabric.

Step 2 - Wash the Clothing

Set your washing machine to the hottest setting that is safe for the item of clothing and put the garment in for a cycle. Add a cup of white vinegar to the wash to help lift the stain from the fabric. Once the cycle is complete, check the garment for any remaining lipstick stains.

Step 3 - Spot Treat Stain

If there are still traces of lipstick residue left on the fabric, spot treat it with either chlorine bleach or oxygen-based bleach. Make sure to read and follow the directions on the package. Then rinse the item of clothing and check for any remaining lipstick stains.

Step 4 - Final Step

Using a soft bristled brush, gently scrub off any remaining lipstick residue. Rinse the fabric and allow it to air dry. Now enjoy wearing your clean and stain-free garment!
