The first step in tackling a fresh lipstick stain is to start by dabbing it with a cloth dampened with warm water to remove as much of the stain as possible. Make sure to dab and not scrub, as scrubbing can cause the stain to set.
Once the excess lipstick has been removed, you can try one of two solutions: using rubbing alcohol or dish soap. For either method, use a clean cloth, towel, or paper towel and gently rub stained area.
Apply the rubbing alcohol to the stain and allow it to sit for five minutes. After the five minutes have passed, gently rub the affected area with the cloth, then rinse with cold water.
Mix a small amount of dish soap with some warm water to make a soapy solution. Dip the cloth into the soapy mixture and dab onto the stained area. Gently rub the contaminated spot until the stain has faded. Rinse with cold water afterward.
For dried lipstick stains, start by wetting stained area with lukewarm water and let it soak for a few minutes. This will help to loosen the stain before you tackle it with a solution.
Once the area has been soaked, you can try one of two solutions: using white vinegar or laundry detergent. For either method, use a clean cloth, towel, or paper towel and gently rub the stained area.
Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a bowl. Dip the cloth into the solution and rub contaminated spot until the lipstick has faded. Then rinse the area with cold water.
Mix a few drops of laundry detergent with water to make a soapy solution. Dip the cloth into the mixture and gently rub the stained area until the lipstick has faded. Then rinse the area with cold water.
