When it comes to lipstick stains, you don’t want to rush through process of removing it. It’s best to start with some steps that will be more gentle on your cargo pants and won’t damage the fabric. First, lightly scrape off the excess lipstick from the pants with a butter knife or a spoon. Be careful not to spread the stain as you do this. Once you have scraped off the excess, blot the area with a clean towel or cloth. Blotting will help to absorb oil-based stain from the fabric. The next step is to apply a spot cleaner. Choose a cleaner specifically designed for lipstick stains – i.e. something with a grease-cutting agent. Apply the cleaner according to the instructions on bottle and let it sit for about 5 minutes on stained area. Next, using a clean cloth or paper towel, blot area until the stain lifts and disappears. You may need to repeat this process several times for the stain to lift completely. When the stain is gone, rinse the pants with water and hang them up to air dry. Finally, once your cargo pants are completely dry, you can turn them inside out and toss them into the washing machine. Use the normal cycle with cold water and regular detergent. It’s also suggested to add a half cup of vinegar to the wash cycle for extra stain busting power. Now, your cargo pants should be good as new!
