Start by gently blotting stain with a clean, white cloth or paper towel. Be sure not to rub the stain as this will only spread it further. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can dab a small amount of warm, soapy water onto the stain and continue to blot it up.
Once you’ve blotted up as much of the lipstick as possible, add a spot treatment to help lift the remaining stain. Choose an acid-based spot remover such as a vinegar solution, lemon juice, or rubbing alcohol. Apply the spot remover to stained area and allow it to sit for several minutes.
After allowing spot remover to do its job, rinse the stained area with cold water until all traces of the spot remover have been removed. Finally, wash the cardigan according to manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure you use a gentle detergent without bleach for delicates.
Once you’ve washed the cardigan, be sure to air dry it rather than put it in the dryer. Air drying will help make sure the stain is completely gone before you wear it again.
Lipstick stains can be tough to remove from clothing, especially delicate fabric like cardigans. With these easy steps, however, you can get rid of those pesky stains for good. So don’t despair – your beloved cardigan can be restored to its former glory.
