Lipstick stains can be one of the most difficult types of stains to remove - but it’s not impossible. With the right cleaning supplies and a few easy steps, you can take care of those stains in no time. Here’s what you need to do:
First, apply a pretreatment solution to the stain. If you don’t have a commercial pretreatment spray, you can make one yourself by mixing one part dish detergent with one part white vinegar. Spray or pour the mixture onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. This will help to loosen the stain so that it’s easier to remove.
Once the pretreatment has had time to set, gently wipe away any remaining lipstick with a soft cloth. This should help to remove some of the stain as well. Be sure to use a light touch - rubbing too hard could damage the fabric.
Now it’s time to run the garment through a regular laundry cycle. Add some extra detergent to your load, and if possible, choose a hot water setting. You may also want to add a stain remover such as Borax or Oxyclean to the load to help loosen any stubborn stains.
Finally, once the washing machine has finished its cycle, hang the garment outside to dry. Avoid using dryer, as this may set the remaining stain. Once garment is dry, check to see if the stain has been completely removed. If not, try repeating the above steps until the stain is gone.
You don’t have to resign yourself to living with a lipstick stain on your clothing. By following these easy steps, you’ll be able to remove stain quickly and easily. Soon you’ll be ready to rock your favorite bottoms again without worrying about any embarrassing stains.
