Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain with a Stain Remover or Detergent

Create a solution with one part detergent to one part water then apply it directly to the lipstick stain. Leave it on for a few minutes, then blot stain with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Step 3: Wash the Fabric in the Machine

Now that you've pre-treated the stain, you can wash item of clothing in the machine. Use a cold water setting and regular detergent, and consider washing the garment separately from other clothes if the stain has been difficult to remove.

Step 4: Repeat if Necessary

Unfortunately, even after pre-treating and washing, some lipstick stains may not come out completely. In this case, you will have to repeat above steps a few times until stain is gone.
