Things You'll Need

  • Soft cloth or sponge
  • Mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Baking soda

Steps for Removing the Stain

  1. Using a cloth or sponge, gently blot the stain with a mild detergent to loosen the lipstick.
  2. Mix equal parts white vinegar with water, and spray the mixture onto the stain. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Blot the stain again with a cloth or sponge to remove any remaining lipstick. If necessary, repeat the process.
  4. Mix equal parts hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, and apply the paste to the stain. Let the paste sit for 15 minutes.
  5. Rinse the area with warm water, and blot it dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Tips

  • Be sure to use a mild detergent and soft cloth or sponge to avoid damaging the fabric on your backpack.
  • If the stain persists after several attempts, try mixing equal parts dish soap, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide and applying it to stain.

Warnings

  • Test any cleaning solutions on a hidden area of the backpack to ensure it does not damage the fabric.
  • Do not use bleach on your backpack.
