The first step in removing a lipstick stain from your Ann Taylor clothing is to act quickly. Blot as much of the stain as possible with a cloth or paper towel, and try to avoid spreading the lipstick further across the garment. Then, take a white cloth and blot it with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Don’t apply the alcohol directly to the garment, as too much may cause discoloration or break down the fabric. Instead, wet the cloth with alcohol and then test it on an inconspicuous area of the garment to make sure it won’t cause any damage.
Once you’ve tested the solution and feel confident to move on, go ahead and use cloth to carefully dab the stained area. Avoid rubbing the fabric too harshly, as this may cause the stain to spread or set permanently. If the stain persists, it may be necessary to repeat process again or to use a stain remover specifically designed to remove oil-based stains.
After stain has been removed, launder the garment and add a fabric softener for extra protection against future stains. Some people also recommend adding a bit of dishwashing detergent to the wash for an extra layer of stain protection.
If the lipstick ended up on a piece of jewelry or other accessory from Ann Taylor, you should carefully clean them with warm water and mild soap. Try to avoid using abrasive materials like steel wool or harsh chemicals which can damage the material of the accessory. Again, test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the item before applying it to the entire surface.
