Pre-Treating

Handwashing
If the care label allows for it, you can also hand wash the item with mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth. Start by mixing a tablespoon of mild soap into a bowl of warm water, then dip a soft cloth into solution. Gently but firmly rub cloth against the stain until it has lifted from the fabric. Rinse the area with cold water, and allow item to air-dry.
Machine Washing
If the item can be safely machine washed, you can set the washing machine to a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent. To further protect the fabric, use a mesh bag and place the garment inside. Once the cycle is complete, hang the garment to air dry.
Spot Cleaning
If you have a tricky stain and handwashing or machine washing isn't doing trick, you may need to directly apply the soap onto the stain. First add a little bit of soap onto the stain and rub it in using a soft brush. Then rinse off with cold water and allow to air dry.
