Removing Lipstick Stains from Abaya

  • Start by dampening the stained area with cold water.
  • If it's a matte finish, gently rub a drop of mild liquid detergent onto the stain.
  • If it's a glossy finish, add a drop of rubbing alcohol to the stain and rub gently.
  • Rinse the detergent or rubbing alcohol with cold water.
  • If any colour still remains, add a tablespoon of baking soda to ¼ cup of hydrogen peroxide and mix until it forms a paste.
  • Gently rub paste onto the stain until it lifts.
  • Rinse the paste off with cool water.
  • Blot the area dry with a soft cloth.
  • Repeat the process as necessary until the stain is completely gone.

Tips for Prevention

  • Pre-treat newly bought abayas with a stain remover.
  • Avoid wearing lipstick that is not long-lasting.
  • Use a lip primer and lip liner to keep lipstick in place.
  • Carry a small travel size bottle of stain remover with you.
