When it comes to spills and stains, ketchup can be one of the most stubborn. The combination of oil, dye, and sugar can make it difficult to remove without the right tools and techniques.

When dealing with tussah fabric, it is important to note that tussah is a particularly delicate fabric. For best results, hand washing is recommended rather than machine washing.

What You Will Need

  • White vinegar
  • Borax powder
  • Small bowl/container
  • Gloves
  • Old toothbrush or scrub brush
  • Soft cloths or towels

Instructions:

  1. Put on gloves and pour a small amount of white vinegar into a small bowl or container.
  2. With an old toothbrush or scrub brush, dip bristles into the solution, dab it onto the stained area of the tussah fabric, and gently scrub the area in circular motions.
  3. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with clean water and then pat it dry with a soft cloth or towel.
  4. If the stain remains, create a paste of Borax powder and water and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Rinse the solution off with cold water and pat the area dry with a clean cloth or towel.
