What You Will Need:

  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Dishwashing Soap
  • Sponge/Towel
  • Enzyme Laundry Detergent

Step 1: Soak Up Excess

The first step to removing a ketchup stain is to absorb any excess liquid. Using a clean cloth or paper towels, dab gently at stain until it is no longer wet.

Step 2: Sanitize with Vinegar

After you've soaked up the excess liquid, it's time to sanitize the area. To do this, simply mix one part white vinegar with one part water and soak the stained area for 10 minutes. This will help remove the bacteria from the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Attack the Stain with Baking Soda

Once the stain is sanitized, create a paste out of baking soda and water. Spread this paste over the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. The baking soda should help break down the ketchup and make it easier to remove.

Step 4: Wash With Detergent

After baking soda has had time to work its magic, it's time to wash the stain with dishwashing soap or enzyme laundry detergent. Gently scrub the area with a sponge or towel and let it soak in the warm water for 30 minutes before rinsing it off.

Step 5: Air Dry

Finally, lay the shirt flat on a dry towel and allow it to air dry. The sun's heat may help further remove the ketchup stain so leave the shirt outside for a few hours after it has dried.

Conclusion

Ketchup stains can be stubborn, but with the right cleaning techniques, they can be removed easily. Following the steps outlined above, you can keep your t-shirts looking fresh and free of any unwanted stains!
