If your tie has gotten splattered with ketchup, it’s important to act quickly. Blot the excess mess with a paper towel or cloth. Do not rub the stain as this will only spread the ketchup further. Then, choose one of following methods and you’ll be good to go!

  1. Lemonjuice and dish soap: Mix equal parts lemon juice and dish soap together and use a cloth or bristle brush to gently scrub the stain. Rinse the area with cold water and let it air dry.
  2. Club soda: Pour some club soda onto a clean cloth and blot the stain with a gentle dabbing motion. Let the area air dry.
  3. Dry cleaning solvent: Dip a clean cloth in a dry cleaning solvent and blot the stain. Rinse the area with cold water and let it air dry.

If first method does not remove the stain, try another until it is completely gone. If all else fails, take your tie to the dry cleaners and explain situation. No matter what you do, don’t use hot water or an iron to try and remove the stain as this could damage the fabric.

No one wants their tie stained with ketchup, but with the right steps you can get it clean in no time!
