A Simple Trick to Get Ketchup Stains Out of Your T-shirt

Whether from a ketchup-drenched burger or a sidesplashed hotdog, ketchup stains can ruin look of your favorite t-shirt. It may not be possible to save the shirt from an extremely large or old stain, but with some patience, you can get the job done. Here's what you need to do:

  • Soak up as much of ketchup as you can with a paper towel or cloth.
  • Rinse the stained area under cold water for about 30 seconds.
  • Mix together liquid detergent and warm water in a bowl. Stir them together with a spoon until it creates a bubbly lather.
  • Once mixture is soap suds, apply to stained area with a sponge or old toothbrush.
  • Let the mixture soak into the fabric for 10 minutes.
  • Rinse the stained area with clean water.
  • If the stain has not been completely removed, repeat steps two through six.

It is important to use cold water and mild detergents as hot water and tough detergents will set stain. After the stain has been removed, wash the shirt in warmest temperature indicated on the label.

By following these simple steps, you can easily remove ketchup stains from your t-shirt, saving it from being thrown out.
