Before you start your deep cleaning mission, make sure you have all the necessary supplies. Rubber gloves, rags, a bucket, pool cleaning solution, and any other cleaners with stain-fighting capabilities should all be ready to go.
Once you’ve collected your supplies, it’s time to spring into action. Put on your rubber gloves, grab an old rag, and get scrubbing. You can add some pool cleaning solution to the rag to help break up ketchup. Once you feel like you’ve done enough scrubbing, give the area a rinse with clean water. Depending on the severity of stain, you may need to repeat this step multiple times.
Assuming the stain persists, you’ll want to move onto other methods of stain removal. White vinegar works wonders on ketchup stains, and so does a mixture of baking soda and water. Apply either one of these directly to stain (or mix together and apply) and then let sit for five to ten minutes before rinsing clean with water.
If all else fails, chlorine can sometimes do the trick. But it’s worth noting that chlorine can be damaging to your pool liner if used in excess, so proceed with caution. It’s best to dilute the chlorine in a bucket of warm water before applying to the stain. Once you’ve used the diluted chlorine solution, give the surface a thorough rinse with fresh water.
Getting ketchup stains out of a swimming pool liner doesn’t have to be an arduous task. Follow the steps outlined above and you should be able to banish those pesky stains in no time.
