The first step in removing a ketchup stain from sweatpants is to remove as much excess ketchup as possible. Use the dull edge of a butter knife or a spoon to scrape away any remaining pieces of ketchup.
Fill a sink or a bucket with cold water and place stained area of sweatpants in it. Let the fabric soak for 10-15 minutes. This will help soften the stain and make it easier to remove.
Once the stain has softened, take the sweatpants out of water and apply a few drops of detergent directly to stain. Rub detergent in gently using your fingers or a soft brush. Let the detergent sit on the stain for a few minutes before rinsing.
Once detergent has had time to work its magic, rinse sweatpants off with cold water. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly to ensure all traces of detergent are removed. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps 2-4 until the ketchup stain is completely gone.
To make sure all traces of the ketchup stain are removed, finish process off with an OxiClean soak. Fill a sink or a bucket with cold water and add a scoop of OxiClean. Submerge sweatpants in OxiClean solution and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water afterwards and the ketchup stain should be completely gone.
