What You Need to Clean Ketchup Stains from Sweaters
To get started and successfully remove ketchup from your sweaters, you’ll need:
- A spoon or dull object (i.e. butter knife)
- Clean cloths
- Cold water
- Mild detergent
- White vinegar
- Liquid dish soap
How to Clean Ketchup Stains from Sweaters
- Using a spoon or butter knife, carefully scrape off as much of the ketchup as possible, taking care not to spread stain further.
- Lay the sweater flat on a clean cloth and dab cold water on the area to saturate it.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of mild detergent with 2 cups of cold water, and apply this solution to the affected area with a clean cloth.
- Continue dabbing the area until the stain disappears.
- If the stain persists, mix 1 teaspoon of white vinegar with 1 cup of cold water and dab it on the area.
- If the stain still remains, mix a few drops of liquid dish soap with 1 cup of cold water and dab it on the stain. Allow the area to sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing it off.
- Rinse the area well with cold water and blot it dry with a clean cloth.
