Acting quickly is key in removing ketchup from suits. The longer you wait to clean it, the harder it will be to remove entirely. So if you can, act fast.
Using a cloth or paper towel, gently blot ketchup stain. Be sure to not scrub the stain, as this could set it into the fabric. Try to absorb as much of the sauce as possible with the cloth.
Use liquid detergent or a mild soap and apply it directly onto the stain. Let the detergent sit for about five minutes before continuing.
Rinse detergent off with cold water. You may notice that the stain lightens after rinsing.
If the stain is still there, repeat steps three and four of the process. It may take several rounds of detergent and rinsing to get rid of the ketchup stain completely.
If the stain was removed, air dry or use a hair dryer to get your suit dry. Avoid placing suit in the dryer as heat can set in the stain and make it harder to remove.
Ketchup stains can be pesky but don't worry - they can be removed with a few simple steps. Just remember to act quickly, blot, apply detergent, rinse with cold water, and hang or blow dry the suit to get it looking clean and sharp once again.
