First, blot the stain using a clean, white cloth. Blot from the outside of the stain toward center to avoid spreading it. Then, mix a solution of 1/4 teaspoon (or 1 capful) of mild detergent and one quart of warm water. Dip a cotton swab into the mixture and apply it lightly to the stained area. Work from the outer edges to center of the stain to prevent it from spreading.
If the stain remains after trying first method, try a stronger solution. Mix a solution of one tablespoon of oxygen-based bleach with one quart of warm water. Dip a white cloth in the solution and apply gently to stained area. Let it sit for 10 minutes then rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
Once stain is gone, it's important to dry the garment properly. Hang the item in shade or lay it flat until it’s completely dry. Never dry silk taffeta in direct sunlight or a clothes dryer, which can cause discoloration.
