Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Blot the ketchup stain with a paper towel or cloth to remove as much of the liquid as possible.
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with 2 cups of warm water.
  3. Use a clean sponge to apply the mixture to the stain and blot gently until the stain starts to lift.
  4. Rinse area with cool water and blot dry with a soft cloth.
  5. If the stain remains, apply a small amount of cold water directly to stain and use a soft brush to work in a dab of pre-wash stain remover.
  6. Let the remover sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  7. Place the garment in the washing machine on the gentlest cycle with cold water and mild laundry detergent.
  8. Hang the garment to air dry.

Additional Tips

  • If the stain is still visible after following these steps, try repeating the process.
  • When using pre-wash stain remover, test the solution on an inconspicuous area of the garment first to make sure it won't cause further damage.
  • If you do not have a pre-wash stain remover, you can also use ammonia diluted with water in place of the solution.
