What You Need

  • Mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Sponge
  • Bowl
  • Old toothbrush

Steps

  1. Take a sponge and dampen it with lukewarm water. Blot the stained area to take out as much of the ketchup as possible.
  2. Mix one tablespoon of mild detergent with one tablespoon of white vinegar in a bowl. Dip an old toothbrush in and stir until the mixture is foamy.
  3. Dab the foam onto the stained area and work it gently into the fabric with a scrubbing motion. Rinse off the stained area with lukewarm water.
  4. If the stain persists, repeat process until the ketchup is removed.
  5. Once the ketchup is gone, you should launder your shirt as normal.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to check the garment’s care tag before using any cleaning products or methods.
  • Always spot-test a small area of the garment before using any detergents, cleaners, or bleaching agents, as these can cause damage.
  • Never rub stained area when trying to remove the ketchup. This can cause the stain to set and spread.
