Before attempting to clean the stain, it’s important to pre-treat it to make sure the ketchup doesn’t set in. First, take a paper towel or cloth and dab stained area to absorb as much of the ketchup as possible. Then, apply cold water to the stain for at least 30 seconds while rubbing the fabric in a circular motion.
Once the stain has been pre-treated, it’s time to use a cleaning solution. If the robe is white, a mixture of bleach and cold water (3 parts water to 1 part bleach) should do the trick. If the robe is any other color, a mixture of dishwashing liquid and cold water (2 parts water to 1 part dishwashing liquid) works best. Allow the solution to sit on the stain for at least 5 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
After cleaning solution has been applied and rinsed off with cold water, it’s important to finish up the process with a few final steps. Start by patting the stained area with a cloth to absorb any residual moisture. Then, place the robe in sun to dry. Once the robe is completely dry, check the stained area to make sure the ketchup stain is gone. If it’s still there, repeat the cleaning process.
