When you're out and about in the rain, the last thing you want is an unexpected ketchup stain to ruin your raincoat. But when it happens, don't panic! Here are 7 simple steps to help get that ketchup stain out of your raincoat.

  1. Remove as much of the ketchup as possible. Use a spoon or a butter knife to scrape off any excess before doing anything else.
  2. Soak up the remainder of the ketchup with paper towels. Lay the paper towel over the stain and press gently.
  3. Mix 1 tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of cool water. Dip a clean rag into the mixture and sponge affected area.
  4. Rinse the area with distilled water (a gentle rinse) and blot dry with a clean cloth.
  5. If the stain persists, mix 4 tablespoons of white vinegar with ½ cup of warm water. Sponge the solution onto the affected area. Rinse again with cool water and then blot dry.
  6. Once the stain has been successfully removed, spot test an area for colorfastness. To do so, dab a small amount of detergent on an area of your raincoat and let it sit for 10 minutes. If the fabric does not fade, proceed.
  7. If needed, use a laundry pre-treatment product like Tide® Pre-treat-Stain Remover to get out any remaining residue. Apply directly to the affected area and rub it in lightly. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cool water and blotting dry.

And there you have it - easy, effective solutions to ketchup stains on your raincoat! With a little bit of work, you can get your raincoat back to its pristine condition.
