What You'll Need

  • Detergent
  • Ammonia
  • White vinegar
  • Bowl of warm water
  • Soft cloth

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Use a blotting motion to gently remove as much of the ketchup as possible. Be sure not to rub the stain as this may cause it to spread further.

Step 2: Mix the Solution

Mix together a solution of two tablespoons of detergent, one tablespoon of ammonia, and two cups of warm water. Dip a soft cloth into this mixture.

Step 3: Dab the Stain

Use the cloth to dab at the area with ketchup stain and continue until the stain appears to have been removed.

Step 4: Rinse with Water

Once you've finished dabbing the area, rinse it off with a cloth and bowl of warm water.

Step 5: Apply White Vinegar

If there is still a residual stain left, apply white vinegar directly to the affected area. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Step 6: Air Dry

Finally, leave the item in a warm place to air dry. Do not put it in the dryer until you are sure the stain is completely gone.
