Step 1: Blot the Stain

First, blot the stain with a paper towel, or a white cloth. Make sure you don’t rub or scrub the stain, as this will only make it worse and spread the ketchup further across the fabric.

Step 2: Run Cold Water Over the Stain

Next, turn your muslin upside down and hold it under cold running water. This helps dilute and break down the ketchup, which makes it easier to remove.

Step 3: Create a Detergent Solution

In a small bowl, mix together some detergent and warm water. Dilute the detergent until it is no longer concentrated. Do not use hot water, as this will only set the stain.

Step 4: Soak the Muslin

Dip muslin into the detergent solution and allow it to soak for around 30 minutes. This should start to loosen and lift the stain.

Step 5: Rinse and Repeat

Rinse muslin off with cold water and then repeat Steps 1-4. This will help to ensure that all ketchup stain has been removed.

Step 6: Hand Wash

Finally, hand wash the muslin with warm water and detergent. This should remove any remaining stains. Once clean, hang out to dry.
