Step 1: Blot Immediately

The first order of business when dealing with any type of stain is to blot it up quickly. Use a paper towel or cloth to soak up as much of the excess liquid as you can. Do not scrub or rub at the fabric; this will only drive the ketchup further into the material and make it even more difficult to remove.

Step 2: Pre-treat with Detergent

Fill a bowl with warm water and add a tablespoon of liquid detergent. Dip a fresh cloth into the mixture and then use it to pre-treat the stained area on your Levi’s. Gently dab cloth against the fabric until you no longer see traces of the ketchup.

Step 3: Wash in Cold Water

Place your Levi’s in a washing machine and set the temperature to cold. Add your preferred detergent and allow the jeans to go through a full cycle. If possible, opt for a delicate cycle to avoid shrinkage or discoloration of the fabric. After the cycle is finished, your jeans should come out good as new!

Step 4: Remove Any Remaining Stains

Inspect your Levi’s for any remaining evidence of the ketchup stain. If necessary, repeat the pre-treatment process in step two, followed by another cycle in the washing machine. Once everything is clean, air dry your Levi’s for best results.
