If you have noticed a reddish-brown splotch on your grass, chances are high that it was caused by ketchup spilling onto turf. To remove this stain and return your outdoor area to its original condition, begin by using an old toothbrush to scrub the spot with warm water and gentle laundry soap. Let soap sit for several minutes before using the toothbrush again to agitate and loosen any remaining particles.
For bigger stains or harder to remove areas, it may be necessary to use an oxygen bleach solution. This type of cleaner is effective at breaking down ketchup stains and restoring the vibrant green of your grass. To apply, first mix the oxygen powder into hot water according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Then, pour the mixture over the stained area and wait a few minutes before scrubbing the spot with a clean cloth.
You may find that after cleaning ketchup stains, some areas of your lawn look discolored or patchy. In this case, it is wise to reseed the area with fresh grass seeds. Simply spread the seeds over the affected area and lightly cover them with soil. Water the grass frequently and make sure that it is receiving enough sunlight throughout day. With the right combination of these elements, your lawn should soon be free of any trace of the ketchup spillage!
