Step 1: Extraction

The best way to tackle a ketchup stain is to act quickly! Start by pouring a generous amount of warm water onto the stain. You will want to avoid using boiling water, as this may cause stain to set into the fabric. Gently rub stained area with a deep-cleaning detergent to help remove the ketchup. Then, use a spoon or a dull knife to scrape off the remaining ketchup, being sure not to press down too hard so as not to damage the fabric.

Step 2: Blotting

Once you have removed as much of the ketchup as possible, it's time to begin blotting. Start by laying a clean cloth onto stain. Using a dry towel, gently dab the stained area until no more liquid is being absorbed by the towel. As you are blotting, pay attention to the size of your strokes so the stain does not spread further.

Step 3: Soaking

After the excess ketchup has been removed, create a solution of warm water and laundry detergent and gently submerge the stained area in the solution. Let the Lacoste garment sit for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, rinse area with cool water until water runs clear.

Step 4: Washing

After soaking and rinsing the stained area, it’s time to put the Lacoste garment in washing machine. Use a regular cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Allow the garment to air dry or you can tumble dry it on low heat.
