Kimono have long been a symbol of fashion and sophistication in Japan. Unfortunately, they can easily get stained due to their delicate nature. One of the most common stains on kimono are ketchup stains. Ketchup contains many powerful dyes and ingredients that can seep into the fabric of the kimono and be very difficult to remove. However, with the right techniques, it is possible to remove ketchup stains from a kimono easily and without damaging the fabric.
The first step to removing a ketchup stain is to pre-treat the stain. Using a white cloth or cotton swab, dab a small amount of dishwashing liquid onto the stain. Gently rub area in a circular motion in order to loosen ketchup from fabric. Make sure not to rub too hard as this can cause the stain to spread.
Once you have pre-treated stain, rinse the area with lukewarm water. This will help to further loosen the ketchup from the fabric. Be sure to use only lukewarm water as hot water can cause the stain to set in deeper to the fabric.
Finally, once stain has been pre-treated and rinsed, launder the kimono as usual. This will complete process of cleaning the ketchup stain. With a bit of luck, you should be able to completely remove the stain from your kimono.
