Step 1: Remove Excess Ketchup

Start the cleaning process by gently scraping excess ketchup from the stain with a dull knife or spoon. Do not rub or scrub the stain as this can damage the fabric.

Step 2: Blot Stain With a Wet Paper Towel

Next, blot the stain with a wet paper towel, starting from the outside and working your way in. This will help to lift some of ketchup from the fabric and prevent it from spreading.

Step 3: Create a Soap Solution

Mix 12 ounces of warm water with a few drops of mild laundry detergent, then dip a clean cloth into the mixture. Gently dab the solution onto the stain, again working from outside in.

Step 4: Rinse the Fabric

Once the stain has been treated, rinse the fabric with cold water to remove any remaining detergent.

Step 5: Air Dry the Fabric

Lay the fabric flat or hang it up to air dry completely. Do not place it in the dryer as this may set the stain.
