The first step in removing a ketchup stain from your home is to carefully blot out the stain. Get a cloth or other absorbent material and press it gently into stain. Do not rub it in – this could spread the stain even further. Rather, just press the material into the stain to absorb as much of ketchup as possible.
Once you’ve blotted out as much of the stain as you can, the next step is to pre-treat area with a cleaning product. There are many different products available, from store-bought solutions to natural cleaners like vinegar or lemon juice. Whichever you choose, make sure to follow the instructions for pre-treating the stain. Allow the pre-treatment to sit for a few minutes before continuing.
Now it’s time to actually wash the stain. If the stained item is machine-washable, you can simply add it to the washing machine along with your regular detergent. If it’s not machine-washable, you can hand wash it. Make sure to use the hottest water the fabric can tolerate and scrub the stained area thoroughly.
Once you’ve washed the item, it’s time to dry it. Make sure you use appropriate heat setting and never put the item in the dryer before it’s completely dry. If the ketchup stain doesn’t come out after all of this, don’t worry – there are still more steps you can take.
If ketchup stain still won’t come out, you may need to take the item to a professional cleaner. Professional cleaners have advanced tools and techniques to get rid of tough stains, so they should be able to help. However, it’s important to note that professional cleaners can be pricey and the cost may not be worth it for a small stain.
