If the stain is fresh, you can try to blot away the excess ketchup with a clean, dry paper towel. This will help get rid of as much of the stain as possible before attempting to further clean it. However, you should never rub the stain as that can cause it to spread even further into the fabric.
You can purchase special stain removers specifically designed for removing ketchup stains from gingham fabric at almost any grocery store or online shop. These generally come in either spray or powder form. To use them, follow the directions on the packaging and apply the mixture to the affected area. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. After rinsing, let the fabric air dry.
If you do not have access to a special stain remover, you can use a mild detergent instead. Mix together a teaspoon of mild detergent with a cup of warm water. Apply mixture to the stained area and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then, rinse it off with warm water and let the fabric air dry.
