When it comes to ketchup spills, the most important step is to act fast. The sooner you start treating the stain, the better. Begin by blotting the area with a damp towel or napkin to absorb as much of the ketchup as possible. Once the surface is dry, fill a bowl with cold water and add a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Soak the stained area of the garment in the mixture for 15 minutes, then rinse in cold water. If the stain persists, repeat the process.

After rinsing, mix a tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of water. Use a clean cloth to dab the stain with the ammonia solution. It's important to dab stain instead of rubbing it as doing so can damage the delicate material. Once you have finished, rinse the garment with cold water again and leave to air dry. If the stain still remains, pour a small amount of hydrogen peroxide into a bowl and soak the stained area for 10 minutes. Again, rinse after and leave to dry.

Once the fabric is dry, if the stain remains, try using a commercial stain remover. Launder the garment according to the instructions on the product label. Do not put the garment in the dryer until you are sure the stain has been completely removed.

With these tips, you should be able to get any ketchup stain out of your georgette easily. But if you'd rather leave the cleaning to the experts, take your garment to a dry cleaner for safe and thorough stain removal.
