The key to successfully removing a ketchup stain is to tackle it as soon as possible. Once you notice the stain, grab a napkin or paper towel and gently blot area. Doing so will help absorb most of grease and liquid before it has a chance to set in.
Once area is blotted, you can pre-treat the stain with a liquid laundry detergent or spot remover. Make sure to gently rub the product in a circular motion on the stain, and let sit for 5 minutes.
Fill a sink with lukewarm water, add some laundry detergent, and submerge the entire shirt. Let it soak for about 10 minutes before lightly agitating the fabric.
Once the shirt is done soaking, take it out and check for any residue. If the stain is lifted, go ahead and rinse shirt with cold water. If not, repeat steps 2 and 3.
Hang dry the shirt, or place it in the dryer on the lowest setting. Avoid using heat when drying, as this can set stain or cause permanent damage.
