Step 1: Blot the Stain

Before proceeding with the rest of the cleaning process, take a paper towel or cloth and blot the stained area. Make sure not to rub; this will only spread the stain further. When done correctly, the paper towel should absorb excess ketchup, making the stain easier to treat.

Step 2: Apply Detergent

After blotting the stain, find a mild detergent and mix it with cold water. Use an old toothbrush to gently spread the mixture onto the stained area. Let the detergent sit for a few minutes, and then rinse with cold water.

Step 3: Treat with White Vinegar

Some stubborn ketchup stains may linger after Step 2. To get rid of these, submerge the stained area in white vinegar for 10-15 minutes. The vinegar should help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

After treating the stain, it’s time to rinse and dry the garment. Make sure to use cold water when rinsing for best results. Once finished, lay the item flat on a towel and let it air dry. Do not put the clothing in the dryer; doing so can cause the stain to set.

Tips for Removing Ketchup Stains from Forever21 Clothing

  • Act quickly: The sooner you treat a ketchup stain, better the results.
  • Be gentle: Always blot stain instead of rubbing, as this can spread the stain further.
  • Use cold water: Hot water can actually set the stain, so be sure to use only cold water.
  • Try white vinegar: This is a natural and effective way to get rid of tough ketchup stains.
