Get Supplies

The first step is to gather the supplies you'll need for stain removal. You'll need a clean cloth, a white vinegar solution (1 part white vinegar to 3 parts cold water), and a product specifically designed for cleaning delicates, such as Woolite. If garment is dry-clean only, you may want to take it to a professional cleaner.

Blot Stain

Once you have your supplies, you're ready to start cleaning. Start by blotting the stain with a dry cloth to absorb as much of the ketchup as possible. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the stain, as this could spread it or further damage the fabric.

Create a Vinegar Solution

Mix 1 part white vinegar and 3 parts cold water in a bowl. Dip cloth into solution and then dab stain with the cloth. Continue to dab until the stain has lightened or disappeared completely. Do not rub the fabric.

Apply Stain Remover

Once the vinegar solution has been applied, use a product designed specifically for delicate fabrics, such as Woolite, on the stain. Follow the instructions carefully and allow the stain remover to sit on the stain for the recommended amount of time before laundering.

Launder the Garment

After pre-treating the stain, it's time to wash the garment. Check the garment's care label for specific washing instructions and use a gentle cycle with cold water. Then hang the garment to air dry.
