Gather Your Materials

Before you begin, you’ll need to assemble the following supplies:

  • Detergent
  • Warm water
  • White vinegar
  • Soft cloths
  • White paper towels

Removing the Stain

Now it’s time to start treating the ketchup stain. The easiest way to do this is to first blot it up with the white paper towel to remove as much of the ketchup as you can. Next, mix together a solution of one teaspoon of detergent and one cup of warm water, then dip a soft cloth into the soapy mixture.

Using gentle pressure, dab the stained area with the cloth. Continue working around stain until it gradually disappears. After you’ve treated the fabric, rinse the area with clean warm water and blot it dry.

An Alternative Solution

If the stain persists, you may need to try a slightly different approach. Mix a solution of one part white vinegar to five parts warm water, dampen a soft cloth in this mixture, and use it to dab the stained area. This should help loosen the ketchup stain from the fabric. Once you’ve finished, simply rinse with warm water and blot it dry.

Finishing Up

If the stain remains, repeat the steps above. Eventually, the ketchup stain will lift away from the fabric. When you’re done, vacuum up any residual oil or dirt from the drapery or curtain.
